How Can You Help?
Coastal Harvest is, in essence, a trucking and warehouse business. We have all of the costs of any other similar business: insurance, fuel, maintenance, electricity – the difference being that we do not charge for our services! We rely on dollars from our generous donors to keep our trucks on the road and our warehouse open.
Your donation will pay for perhaps a new tire, diesel or wages for a driver. Donations pay for electricity for our freezer, fork lift maintenance or possibly a computer for the office. The generous contributions from our supporters will put a Coastal Harvest truck at the loading dock of a processor with excess produce and bring that truck home full of food.
When we do buy food, a dollar in our hands is worth much more than at the local grocery store. We work with our partners to buy in huge quantities, often tens of thousands of pounds of food at a time. Coastal Harvest will make your dollar work hard and efficiently to feed the hungry.
If you live in the Grays Harbor area, Coastal Harvest is always looking for volunteers willing to help our warehouse operate. What is your area of expertise? Photography? Website maintenance? Warehouse Labor? Public Speaking? There are many ways to give to your community.
The city of Aberdeen is already collecting funds on thier utility bills. The Hoquiam City Council recently announced they will participate in the utility billing plan to help fund hunger relief through Coastal Harvest and Raymond has agreed to implement a program soon. If this option isn’t on your utility bill, ask your elected official why.
